SLS Sunshine Coast Surf Rescue Championships

Entry information will be located in surf sports central - bulletins when released.

Due to current Covid restrictions there will need to be some adjustments to the way the Surf Rescue Championships are conducted.

To assist with the training and preparation of your teams we are listing some of the adjustments that have been agreed upon by a panel of Surf Sports Directors and Advisors.

 ·        Live patient assessment and mannikin CPR will still occur as usual.

·        All competitors will be required to use hand sanitiser, gloves, face mask and safety goggles when in direct contact with a live patient.

·        This will be in place for all live patient assessment, treatment of dry patients during beach scenarios and treatment of first aid competition patients.

·        There will be sanitisation stations set up where competitors can apply their PPE prior to competing.

·        Clubs will be responsible for the cleaning/sanitising of their own mannikins and equipment.

·        Assessors will be maintaining reasonable distancing and the wearing of PPE.

·        Some adjustments may need to occur with the timing of written exams to comply with room capacity numbers.

·        Written questions will be sourced from the current version of Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue digital version (also available in PDF format.)

·        Under 15 written papers and patrol scenarios will reflect the 2020/2021 units of competency.

·        The assessor marking sheets for resuscitation will be adjusted to remove sections involving rescue breathing such as ‘correct rescue breathing technique’, ‘achieve a seal during inflations’ and ‘correct chest inflation’.

Please note that the situation can change at any time and as updates are received from the State Surf Sports committee, we will pass them on to keep everybody informed.
